The Many Types of Pasta Salad Recipes

A lot of cooks have their own special pasta salad recipes that they make. Although the pasta salads that you usually find in restaurants tend to be of only one or two different types, those that people make at home come in a much wider variety of options.

One common type of pasta salad recipes is a mayonnaise based salad with macaroni and small bits of vegetables. These usually include red pepper, onions, and celery. Some people also add things like cucumber, tomato, and peas. Some versions have chunks of cheese as well, and possibly chunks of ham. The mayonnaise base of these salads is usually pretty bland, but this can be helped with the addition to the salad dressing of ingredients such as lemon juice, mustard, french dressing or ketchup, and relish, though this isn’t always done. Some people use ranch dressing instead of at least part of the mayonnaise in order to add more flavor.

The other very common type of pasta salad recipes is those that have an oil based dressing. Usually these are made with rotini pasta, and have tomatoes, olives, pepperoni, onions, and sometimes cucumbers. Usually the dressing is an Italian style dressing.

There are some popular variations to these types of pasta salad recipes that are commonly used by home cooks. One of these is making a mayonnaise based pasta salad that has tuna in it, usually along with cheese, onions, and peas. Some people do the same sort of thing with chicken or with ham, adding meat to make the salad a bit more of a main dish than a side dish.

If these recipes for pasta salad are getting a bit monotonous and you would like something a little different, all you need to do is do a quick internet search or search a recipe website and you can find all sorts of variations. There are those for Asian pasta salads, Greek pasta salads, curry pasta salads, and BLT pasta salads, just to name a few. Just looking over the recipes might give you some ideas for how you can revamp your own favorite recipe to make it even more delicious.
